Brass Art were commissioned for a major new exhibition entitled Sky Scrapping at the Yorkshire Sculpture park, between 15 March and 22 June 2008.
For a part of the show, I was asked to model a sculpture in Maya for eventual 3d printing. The concept of the art work meant that rather than building the human body from scratch, 3d body scans where used instead. This raw data was very noisy with around a quarter of a million vertices to contend with. I cleaned the raw 3d data with Maya and then Mudbox. It was a long laborious job, but rewarding once the eventual model could be seen within the exhibition.
The dog was built from scratch using standard modelling in Maya and then refinement in Mudbox.
